Bridget Montgomery is a clinician at Namasport Mental Health Studio.
Bridget earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Northwestern University. During her time at Northwestern, she was an emerging scholar and graduate assistant with research interests in mental skills training for athletes, ethics, eating disorders, and the application of Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO DBT) to athlete populations. Bridget has worked with adolescents, adults, families, and groups in private practice settings. Prior to becoming a mental health therapist, she worked in event management for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, ran competitively, and taught college writing at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
As a former competitive athlete, Bridget has always been curious about the mind-body connection, how athletes use their bodies to move their minds, and how athletes limit or enhance their performance with their mindset. She enjoys integrating philosophy and mindfulness into her sessions, and she believes in a holistic, compassionate, and collaborative approach to mental healthcare.
Bridget is passionate about building rapport with her clients and creating a therapeutic space that is hopeful, non-judgmental, empathic, respectful, and warm. She believes every client deserves a safe space to explore their values, goals, passions, and story. She uses evidence-based and holistic approaches in her sessions like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), RO DBT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing. She is committed to meeting her clients where they are and to helping them pave their path toward healing.
Bridget’s four-year-old dog, Loki Blue, often joins virtual sessions.
